Well, that was easy

Sylvia: Mommy, I hid your hair tie!

Liz: Oh, I wonder where it could be?

Sylvia: Lemme show you!

Face paint!

We went to a coffee shop's fifth anniversary party last night, and Sylvia had what might have been the best night of her life. She painted a bird house, ate some ice cream, danced in front of a bubble machine, and best of all, got her face painted. I didn't think she'd want to do the face painting, but she watched other kids get it done, and then she got in the chair herself. She almost got out again immediately, but consented to sit in my lap instead. When the artist asked her what she wanted, she didn't answer for a long time. Then she said, "I want a princess!" And after that she was totally into it. After the artist was finished, Sylvia wanted to do it again, and then she wanted me to get it done, and then she wanted my whole face to be covered in paint instead of the tasteful little butterfly that the artist chose. At one point in the night, she turned to me and said, "This is so much fun!"

Fashion

I didn't get a pic of her wearing my giant sunglasses, but trust me, the girl made a big entrance at story time, without even trying.

Home alone

I let Sylvia in the front door this afternoon and then I stepped outside to get the mail. She shut the front door (I had the keys in hand). About five seconds later, I opened the door to find a grinning Sylvia, who said, "I was home by myself!"

Practicing

We are slowwwwwly transitioning Sylvia to her own room. Here, she is pretending to go to bed with some stuffed animals (warmly tucked under the covers). So far, she loves this game.

I was washing Sylvia's face before bedtime (very gently, I might add) when this conversation happened:

Sylvia: "Ow!"

Me: "Sylvia, are you okay? What hurts?"

Sylvia: "My feelings!"
